Deciphering the Dress Code

With all the parties during the holiday season our attention is always on that line of the invitation that supposedly tells us what everyone will be wearing. Black Tie, Creative Black Tie, Costume, Casual, Business Cocktail, Cocktail, Blah Blah Blah…it’s endless.

And Let me tell you I know the feeling of anxiety, that come when as a Guest you wonder what really the host means by their choice of dress code, and what everyone else will be wearing. I can’t tell you how many times I have gone to an afternoon wedding only to see ladies in full-length black tie gowns.

Why can’t we get this right? Everyone has an different interpretation of the wording used on the bottom of those invitations, for example traditional in Connecticut may be a polo shirt and penny loafers, or a floral skirt with pearls, and yet in California it is flip flops and shorts. Creative black tie could be a maroon Tux or a woman wearing a skirt made entirely of black ties, you tell me what’s correct???

Even worse it seems new explanations like LA Chic and southern casual creep up every day. There is no dictionary for the dress code line, but here is our attempt to decipher the code for you. We hope this makes your holiday festivities a little easier to plan for!

Black Tie:

A Black tie invitation is formal. It calls for formal attire. Men wear tuxedos, with either a bow tie and cummerbund or an overhand tie and vest depending on preferance. Ladies wear cocktail gowns typically full length, although some shorter styles are acceptable. Formal is just another word for black tie.

Black Tie Optional:

Now…with that said, a Word about Black Tie Optional. When an invitation reads Black tie optional or black tie invited, it is giving the Guest the option of wearing or not wearing a tux, and wearing or not wearing a long gown. Black tie optional is meant to clue the Guest in on the level of formaility that the event has. It in NO way gives a Guest permission to wear Jeans should they choose not to wear a tux. Balck tie optional means that if you choose not to wear a tux men should be wearing a dark suit and tie, while woman may wear long or short cocktail dresses as well as dressy evening seperates.

Creative Black Tie:

Creative Black Tie leaves room for trendy interpretations of formal wear. He can go more modern with a tux -- maybe a black shirt, no tie. She wears long or short dresses or evening separates. Sometimes, themed parties call for dress codes like Texas Black Tie or other variations of Creative Black Tie. In that situation, you can have more fun with it, choosing a dressy look with a theme. For him, it could be a tux with boots and for her it could be a long dress paired with Southwestern style silver belt and jewelry.

Semi-Formal:

Semi-Formal or After Five means that tuxes are not required, nor are long dresses, but still dictates a dark suits for him, and a cocktail dress for her. Daytime semi-formal events mean a suit for him and an appropriate short dress or dressy suit for her.

Business Formal:

Business Formal is the same as Semi-Formal for him, but for women suggests a more tailored dressy suit or dress – it is not appropriate to wear anything too slinky or sexy.

Cocktail Attire:

Cocktail Attire means short, elegant dresses for her and dark suits for him.

Informal:

Informal is often interpreted as the same as Casual but it actually calls for the same dress as Semi-Formal -- dark suits for him, short dresses for her -- especially when associated with a wedding or special event.

Festive Attire:

Festive Attire is usually seen around the holidays, with the mood of the party being Informal or Semi-Formal. For her, it means to choose looks with a bit of sparkle like a beaded sweater with black pants, a red silk blouse with a black skirt.

Dressy Casual:

Dressy Casual calls for dressed-up versions of casual looks. For him, it could be trousers and a sport coat, for her a dressy pants look. Jeans, shorts, T-shirts and other casual looks are not appropriate for Dressy Casual.

Casual:

Casual generally means anything goes. However, it is our opinion that ripped, frayed or worn items, as well as athletic shoes are still not appropriate

We saw these great Gingerbread treat bags on one of our favorite blogs Rachel Hollis' My Chic Life (www.mychiclife.com) and we couldn't resist reposting them. Let Us Entertain you with all the how to's so you can make them for your friends and neighbors.

Rachel filled them with cookies, candies and brownies, but they work with anything, even yesterdays recipe for Red Velvet Cupcakes.

You will need:

Cellophane Bags
Treats for Filling
Ribbon (we like the kind you curl with scissors)
Red Ink Pad
"Handmade by" Stamp
White Ink Pen
Red Ribbon
Brown Paper, Cut into Gingerbread men
Light Brown Paper, cut into small rectangles

Instructions:

Cut out Gingerbread men
Use white pen to put icing on legs, arms and neck, as well as draw the face, hole punch each arm
Cut out light brown rectangles
Stamp them with the "handmade by" stamp and hole punch each corner
Use white pen to sign your name under the stamp
Fill the treat bags and tie them shut with the balloon ribbon
Tie the red Ribbon to the bag, thread it though the whole punches in the gingerbread man, as well as the light brown rectangle and tie a bow
Deliver to friends and Family

The finished product is absolutely adorable, I am sure that they will be quite a hit with friends and family!

Tis' the Season for Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

Let's face it, cupcakes are the IT thing at every party lately! They are easy to make, perfect size, & can be decorated every way possible. Wondering how to incorporate them into your holiday gathering?? Let us entertain you with this recipe for Red Velvet!

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 tablespoons red food coloring
1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cream Cheese Frosting

1 pound cream cheese, softened
2 sticks butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar

Chopped pecans and fresh raspberries or strawberries, for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Line (2) (12-cup) muffin pans with cupcake papers.
In a medium mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
In a large bowl gently beat together the oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vinegar, and vanilla with a handheld electric mixer.
Add the sifted dry ingredients to the wet and mix until smooth and thoroughly combined.
Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake tins about 2/3 filled.
Bake in oven for about 20 to 22 minutes, turning the pans once, half
way through.
Test the cupcakes with a toothpick for doneness.
Remove from oven and cool completely before frosting.

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter and vanilla together until smooth.
Add the sugar and on low speed, beat until incorporated.
Increase the speed to high and mix until very light and fluffy.
Garnish with chopped pecans and a fresh raspberry or strawberry.

Cook's Note: Frost the cupcakes with a butter knife or pipe it on with a big star tip.

Your dessert will be so festive your guests will love them.

A Festive Centerpiece

Looking for a easy centerpieces that will WOW your guests this holiday season? Well look no further. This Candy Cane Centerpiece was designed by one of our previous Interns for her new job. It was so cute that we had to share it!

Material Required:

Cylinder Shaped Vase or a Clean Empty Can
Double-faced Tape
A Thick Rubber Band
Candy Canes (Approximately 30 per centerpiece, depending on how wide the vase/can is)
Ribbon (Wide enough to cover the rubber band you are using)
Flowers of your choice. Approximately 2 dozen for each centerpiece.(Carnations are shown, but Gerber Daises & Roses will also work)

Instructions

1. Wrap the two sided tape around the vase/can once approximately halfway down the vase/can. (The two sided tape will help keep the candy canes from sliding out from under the rubber band.)

2. Slide rubber band around the vase/can.
3. Take all the Candy Canes out of the plastic and begin inserting the candy cans behind the rubber band.
4. Tie the ribbon around the vase/can taking care to cover the rubber band with the ribbon.
5. Fill vase/can with water and arrange flowers. To continue with the Candy Cane pattern, arrange the flowers in red and white strips as shown in the picture.

The Candy Cane Cocktail

Every night is something during the holiday season. With gatherings and parties in abundance we all strive to serve up something memorable for our guests. In the Cocktails department this is a Perfect Productions favorite.

There are several recipes for Peppermint Martinis, BUT have you ever seen one with Whipped Cream Vodka?

Let Us Entertain your Guests this holiday season with a Perfect Productions twist on the original peppermint Martini

Ingredients

Makes 1 Cocktail

2 candy cane, 1 Whole and 1 crushed, for garnish

1 oz of Pinnacle Whipped Vodka

 1/2 oz peppermint schnapps 

½ oz white chocolate liquor 

1 oz half and half  

1 Dash of Grenadine

Ice cubes

Directions

· Place crushed candy canes on a small plate or saucer.

· Wet the outside rim of a chilled martini glass with water.

· Holding the glass by the stem, rotate the rim to coat with candy.

· In a cocktail shaker, combine Whipped Cream Vodka, Peppermint Schnapps, White Chocolate Liquor, Half and Half, Grenadine and Ice

· Shake until well combined

· Strain into prepared glass

· Garnish with a mini candy cane and serve immediately.

Beef Wellington - A Holiday Entertaining Staple Gets a New Look:

Beef Wellington has long been seen as the old standby of decadent foods. It is used by hosts far and wide when they are looking to serve something special.

This elegant staple of 1960s dinner parties derives its name from The Duke of Wellington, the nineteenth century English statesman and military officer.

Beef Wellington traditionally is a 2 to 4 pound beef tenderloin topped with mushroom duxelles and foie gras pate, and then encased in puff pastry.

The Catering Division of Perfect Productions, serves this dish up regularly at dinners during the holidays. We have put a twist on it this year by creating individual portions of the dish, we even have a mini version that is perfect to pass on a tray. Let us Entertain you with the Recipe...

You will need:

4 Thickly Cut 6oz Filet Mignons
1 1/4tsp Salt
1/2tsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper
4 1 Ounce Slices Goose or Duck Liver
8 oz Puff Pastry, Thawed
1 Large Egg, Beaten
1tbsp Usalted Butter
2tbsp Shallotts, Minced
1/2tsp Garlic, Minced
10 large Button Mushrooms, whiped, cleaned and freshley chopped
1/8tsp Freshly Ground White Pepper
2 1/2tbsp White Wine, Dry

Mushroom Duxelles

Heat the butter in a medium skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the shallots and garlic and cook, stirring, for 30 seconds.
Add the mushrooms, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/8 tsp white pepper, reduce the heat to medium, and cook, stirring, until all the liquid has evaporated and the mushrooms begin to caramelize, about 12 minutes.
Add the wine and cook, stirring to deglaze the pan, until all the liquid has evaporated.
Remove from the heat and let cool before using.

Beef Wellington

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Season both sides of each filet with 1/4 teaspoon of the salt and 1/8 teaspoon of the pepper.
Heat the oil in a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Add the filets and sear for 1 minute on each side for medium-rare.
Transfer to a plate to cool completely.
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to a 14-inch square, and cut into 4 (7-inch) squares.
Spread one-quarter of the mushroom duxelles on top of each filet
Top each filet with 1 slice of the pate, pressing to flatten.
Place one filet, mushroom side down, in the center of a puff pastry square. Using a pastry brush or your finger, paint the inside edges of the pastry with egg wash. Fold the pastry over the filet as though wrapping a package and press the edges to seal.
Place the packages seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush the egg wash over the tops and sides of each package and bake until the pastry is golden brown and an instant-read thermometer registers 140 degrees F for medium-rare, about 20 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Place the Beef Wellingtons in the center of 4 large plates, and accompany with the sauce and vegetables of choice.

We recently had two clients come to us for their honeymoon. They decided on Hawaii and were so excited to start planning a vacation they will never forget. After all the work we did and after presenting the final product to the soon-to-be husband & wife, it reminded me that Hawaii is a wondering location to celebrate a honeymoon, a family get away, & even a rest & relaxation trip.

Hawaii has so many great things to do, places to see, and resorts to relax or have fun at!

Are you Irish?

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Today, everybody is Irish! A holiday that originated to honor patron saints is now a day for festivities for one and all!

It is believed that St. Patrick's Day has been celebrated in Ireland earlier than the 1600's. This day is name after the Catholic St. Patrick who at the age of sixteen, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken captive to Ireland as a slave. It is believed he was held somewhere on the west coast of Ireland. According to his Confession, he was told by God in a dream to flee from captivity to the coast, where he would board a ship and return to Britain. Upon returning, he quickly joined the Church in Auxerre in Gaul and studied to be a priest. In 432, it is said that he was called back to Ireland, though as a bishop, to save the Irish. He was successful and focused on converting royalty, aristocracy and the poor. After nearly thirty years of teaching and spreading God's Word he died. Although there were other more successful missions to Ireland from Rome, Patrick endured as the principal champion of Irish Christianity and is held in esteem in the Irish Church.

Wearing the color green is a tradition on St. Patrick's day but, originally the color associated with Saint Patrick was blue. Over the years it has changed to the color green and its association with Saint Patrick's day grew. It is said that St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish. Wearing and displaying the shamrocks and shamrock-inspired designs have become a ever-present feature of the day. Then in the 1798 rebellion in hopes of making a political statement Irish soldiers wore full green uniforms on 17 March in hopes of catching attention with their unusual fashion gimmick.

So as I said, it doesn't matter what your nationality is. Enjoy the Day! If you see a rainbow...make sure to find the end of it...there might be a Pot of Gold at the bottom!

New Spin on Baby Showers!

The new trend in Baby Showers...Open House Style! With everyone's busy schedules, family events, kid's sports & activities, the weekend are far from relaxing. Open House events, such as Baby Showers makes it very convenient for your guests who have those jam-packed weekends.

Yesterday, I attended my first one and it was wonderful! You go at your leisure and leave when you feel fit. The Mom-to-Be opens her gifts when you arrive. This idea I feel it is much more personable because instead of your gift being one out of the mound, you actually get to hand it to her when she is not being overwhelmed! It is also nicer for the visitors because they do not have to spend an hour watching the guest of honor open one after the other. It is just a more relaxed down to earth event where your attendees can mingle and enjoy some appetizers.

For favors they gave a very practical yet personal gift. They made Paper Clip Bookmarks! Each one had the first initial of the guest on it which was a nice touch.

I think that an Open House Shower is one that Mom's-to-Be should consider. It will not be for everyone, but it will fit for some!

Save Green!!!

Trying to save money at your office or business? It seems like "Going Green" costs more "Green" if you know what I mean. It doesn't have to cost you money to save money!

Stop with Snail Mail

Not only does the cost of postage keep raising, it takes like a week! Look into sites like , you can send out mass emails to potential clients instead of large postal mailings. This also will save printing cost, because they can print what they want and it gets to them INSTANTLY!!

Stop the Useless Faxes from Printing

Look into programs that will stop those tele-faxes (Junk Faxes) from printing. These programs go to your computer and then you print them out as you need them. It is also great because you can save them as PDF's on your computer!

Stop Using Un-Needed Energy

Have employees turn there computers off at night and program them to hibernate after 15 minutes. This could cut on energy costs for large offices. Next, invest in Energy Efficient Light Bulbs. They are more expensive upfront, but they last a lot longer and will save on energy usage. Also, turn the temperature of the Heat/AC down after a certain time. This is save on running Heating/AC units all night.

Laser Tag, Bowling, & a Wine Vineyard Tour & Tasting are few ideas that would work for some families, but not all. Follow up the Bowling and Laser Tag with a dinner before or after and that could be a fun way to get to know the other family. A visit to a locate Winery would be a great way to taste a few wines for the wedding as well announcing your recent nuptial!

As if the engagement isn’t overwhelming enough now you have to pick a date, find a church and a reception location. There are the invitations, the flowers and THE DRESS. You have suddenly come to the conclusion that getting engaged means planning a wedding and weddings are work.

Before you start to pull your hair out, keep reading and take some hints from the experts.

Set a Date:

First things first, you have to set a date. Everything else in the wedding planning world depends on this. Many brides have a though in their minds about when they want to get married, but lets suppose you have no idea. Start with the basics, What season do you prefer to get married in? Are you picturing a beach wedding, or a winter wonderland?? Do you want a large wedding, or something small and simple. Remember in the process of picking a date – the larger the scale the longer the wait time.

Location, Location, Location:

Once you have a date the next step is location. You need to find the church and reception hall that will work with that date. Sometimes brides do this step first. If you are flexable with the date you are getting married- a good option is to go to the church and the hall and work around their calendars. A wedding without a church or venue is not much of a wedding. Sometimes you may have to go back and forth between the reception venue and the church to get a perfect day / time combination.
Make sure that you find out if your church requires any “marriage training”, Some churches require special classes and you need to make sure you will be available to spend some time with your clergy prior to the wedding day.

Phew, that wasn’t all that hard was it?

Unfortunately, That's just the tip of the iceburg! Now you must set about finding a dress, bridesmaid gowns, invitations, cake, photographer, planning the meals, choosing the guest list and assigning seating.

Working With Parents and In-laws:

Some Couples decide to do this on their own, and then of course there are those who will work very closely with their parents and future in-laws. This is where the real headaches can begin.
If parents are paying for the wedding, they may feel like they are entitled to have some control over the event. What you want and what they want may be totally different things.

Remember this is your big day and you should have everything you want, however if your gigantic wedding is only possible due to funding by your parents than you may need to strike up a compromise. Take parents aside at the beginning and discuss in detail what you want - let them know what is important to you. Listen to what they think is important and work out a happy medium. If you do this up front you will be able to avoid any conflicts during the planning process.

Every Detail Counts:

Keep detailed records of the planning process – log the phone call you make and the people that you talk to – in the end this will help you to avoid any mis-communications. Read contracts thoroughly to make sure you know exactly what the fees are and what you will get in return for those charges.
Almost every bride (and Groom) gets frustrated at times with the wedding planning, you want your day to be perfect and every little thing can seem a lot more important and stressful than it actually is.

When you feel things start to get out of control, remember what is really important – You. The meaning behind the day is to share you happiness, health and love with the important people in your life. With that in mind your day is bound to be perfect no matter what planning you do!

Fundraising Event Ideas!! Raising Money Can Be Fun!!!

Has fundraising become a chore this past year? If people get something out of an event they are more willing to spend the money. Well here are some fun events that will get people out and willing to spend some money for a good cause

Casino Night

Events like these often include live entertainment, a catered dinner, live and silent auctions, sponsorships, ticket & drink sales. This is a great excuse for adults to get all dressed up and have a fun time, so turnouts are impressive. There are lots of charitable groups who need to raise large amounts of operating funds and these events really deliver if done well.

Silent or Live Auctions- Have everyone call or better yet, visit their contacts to ask for their help with donated products or services. Seek out things with a true "Wow" factor to generate a strong buzz of excitement around your auctions. Live auctions can generate a tremendous amount of revenue for the event, if done correctly. There are several key ingredients to a successful live auction. Maintain a captive audience – shut down all other activity during this time Shorter is better – your live auction should run no more than 30-40 minutes
Less is more – have only a few; generally less than 10 – high ticket items for auction. Use a dynamic auctioneer.

Sponsorship- Find at least one table sponsor for each casino table being used and the sponsored amount should generally be at least $100. Encourage your sponsors to provide “gag” gifts that promote their business to be distributed at “their” table. For example – a blackjack table sponsored by a dentist could give away a free toothbrush (with the sponsor’s name imprinted) for each blackjack that is dealt. Or, the dealer could be dressed in the sponsor uniform. Make your sponsors feel as though they are getting value for their donation and not only are they more likely to attend the event, getting a similar sponsorship the next year
will be much easier. Keep in mind table sponsorship should cover at least the entire rental cost of the casino equipment and staff. Solicit prizes for guests who win at a game. If the event is for charity, many local businesses may be willing to provide prizes or gift certificates in return for being listed as a sponsor. If the event is just for fun, choose inexpensive "theme" gifts from local gift stores. Purchase one or more grand prizes for the big winners of the night.

Games-Make sure you have all permits well ahead of time. Some jurisdictions have special restrictions on gambling-related activities even when they are for charity and don't involve cash winnings, so research this carefully. For your games, contact party supply and equipment rental firms. In major metropolitan areas, there are also companies that specialize in supplying this equipment and many even supply staff to run the games, deal the cards, etc. Solicit prizes for guests who win at a game. For charity, many local businesses may be willing to provide prizes or gift certificates in return for being listed as a sponsor.

Ticket Sales- You can price tickets differently for those who might not want a dinner or gambling chips included. Some people won't and you do want as many people as possible attending and bidding on your auction items.To boost ticket sales make it a black-tie affair. Press coverage and celebrity attendees will also help sell out your fundraiser.

Media- Put together a press release summarizing the highlights of the evening and emphasize why you are raising funds. Include details on the entertainment, the sponsors, prominent attendees, your best auction items, etc. Include full contact information as well as the obvious information such as place, date, and time. Send it to all the major media outlets in your marketplace well ahead of your fundraiser. Include a group photo such as the organizing committee or your group's board of directors.

Golf Tournament

A great warm-weather fundraising event is a golf fundraiser. This is a great way to get sponsorship from large corporations as well as participants. Golf is a huge hobby and it is a great way to get out of the office for the day.

Location-A good golf course and the service their tournament staff provides your event is a huge factor in your tournament’s success. Talk to local golf courses and see if they would offer discounted green fees for a certain amount of people. The ticket prices should include the green fee plus little extra.

When- Charity golf tournaments are traditionally on Mondays because most tournaments used to be held on private country club courses only available on Mondays. Mondays are still the first days that are booked, but you’ll get lower prices on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Some advice about Fridays: Fridays are the best day to get golfers to take a day off from work, but they are the worst days to get them to stick around for an awards dinner banquet. Here’s the trick. Have a Friday morning tournament with a luncheon (rather than dinner). Your golfers get to play hooky from work and still be home with his family by dinnertime. Some golf courses begin their higher weekend rates on Friday, but again, you’ll get a price break if you don’t lock up their whole day. I do not recommend weekend tournaments if you’re price sensitive -- you have much less leverage in negotiating with the golf course on their busiest days. In regards to what time of day, the best suggestion is to do a shot gun start. This way everyone is starting at once and end at the same time. This allows to hold a awards event at the end for a little more revenue.

Hole sponsors-Contact local businesses and ask them to sponsor a hole. To attract eighteen sponsors, make it affordable, say $100 or so. Show them a mockup of the signs that will be placed for each sponsor and your event program where you'll list all your sponsors.

Corporate sponsors-For the biggest financial impact, approach large corporations and ask them to sponsor your event. Companies with headquarters or substantial operations in your area are your best bets. Put together Sponsor Packages and be specific as to what's in it for the corporation, i.e. prominent signage at the event, corporate logo golf balls for all golfers, newspaper coverage, golfing slots for top executives, etc.

Silent auction-Solicit items from local businesses and even offer to pay for some popular items that will attract serious bidding such as golf lessons from the club pro or a set of new irons. On the day of your golf fundraiser, setup a couple of tables full of donated goods and services. Tape bidding sheets and descriptions of each item to the tables so that golfers can place bids one-handed.

Hold a raffle-You can sell raffle tickets for quality prizes in conjunction with your event. They don't even have to be golf related, but it does help to have at least some prizes such as a new golf bag, free round, season pass to top course, etc. To increase sales, sell tickets to the general public and not just to your group of supporters. You can even set up a sales table at high-traffic locations like shopping centers. obviously, follow all local regulations concerning raffle ticket sales.

Cash bar cart-Load up the back of a golf cart with ice and cold drinks, then drive the course and sell your golfers what they want. Cold beer and sodas are the best sellers, but don't forget to include snack foods like pretzels and chips.

Catered lunch-Work with the club to offer a catered lunch to all your golfers or at least a boxed lunch of sandwich, chips, and a cookie. Depending on what you're offering, markup your costs by $2 to $4 per person and you'll do well. overcharging will actually cut into your total profits.

Award Dinner/Ceremony-At the end of the tournament it will be nice to thank everyone & award the winning team with a prize. Work with the golf club to arrange something that could be large to small. This will be the time of the day when you announce the auction and raffle winners. Depending the charity, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a speaker or someone from the charitable organization there to say a few words.

Bachelor & Bachelorette Auction

Setting up a bachelor/bachelorette auction fundraiser is a way to not only raise awareness and money for your cause, it may turn out to be helpful to those who take part. At the very least, it can be fun for everyone who participates.

While the focus should remain on the fundraising aspect of the auction, the nature of it does require some special considerations. You’ll be sending two people out on a date, and while it may start out as something done for charity, who knows? By the end of the evening, your group may be responsible for bringing two people together who might not have otherwise met.

Location-The best place is one that has a stage. Bachelors and bachelorettes will need to be present on stage while the bidding is taking place so bidders can see who they’re bidding on. It’s also optimal for the location to have a PA system with a microphone so the auctioneer can keep things running smoothly and tell the bidders about the bachelors and bachelorettes taking part. Make sure that is place a a trendy spot that the auctionee's friends won't mind coming to support their friend. Every city or town has hotspots like popular restaurants, bars, clubs, etc. Talk to the establishments’ managers to see if they’re willing to donate gift certificates, or better yet, date packages to go along with the bachelor/bachelorette won in the auction. For a really nice touch, see if a local limo company is willing to donate a few hours with a limo and driver to take the couple out in style. Have the bachelors and bachelorettes choose the package they want so the person bidding on them has an idea of that person’s interests, and will know whether that’s how they want to spend an evening.Make sure that is place a a trendy spot that the auctionee's friends won't mind coming to support their friend.

Who will be Auctioned?-The first place to look is within your organization’s ranks. Are there any single members who would like to participate? Think about members of your community, your neighbors, members of your church. Do you know any singles who might want to help out a cause and have a fun evening out in return? One way to really ramp up community involvement is to include single local celebrities like news anchors or radio hosts. Ask them if they’re willing to participate to help out a good cause. The worst they can do is say no, and who hasn’t been turned down at least once when asking someone for a date? Make sure that you are specific with age and I suggest having people fill out applications so that you can keep it even with bachelors & bachelorettes.

Bidders- Inform your bidders before the auction begins. Hand out lists of the available bachelors and bachelorettes with short bios and descriptions of the date they’ll be taking the bidder on. Try to include fun facts about each person, or maybe a funny quote from them. Photos are also helpful to get people interested in bidding. As for the date, this is best left to the bachelor or bachelorette, and the person with the winning bid. After the auction, they can discuss a time and day that work for both of them so there’s no immediate obligation. If they like, this also gives them a little time to talk before the date actually takes place so it’s not as awkward as blind dates can often be.

3 Ways to Start Your New Year Off Right!!!

Ding Dong Ding Dong! Hello, 2010!!!! It's here! Want to make difference in 2010? I know that I am tired of 2009 and with the new year, if you are like me, I am making a fresh start! Here are three ways to start your 20-10 off right!

Step One:Make Goals!

What do you want to accomplish this year? What would do like to do differently from 2009? Is it a promotion? Is it more revenue in your business? Is it to buy and house or start a new family...go to Europe??? Whatever it is, write it down. Make the goals attainable. If you put something like win the lotto, chances are that isn't going to happen and also, you have no control over that. Pick goals that you have control over! You will be more eager to achieve them by 2011.

Step Two:Get Organized!

If you have been putting off cleaning out or closet, or getting a new filing system at work now is your chance! With the new year clean that clutter and start off with a clean slate! You will be more willing to tackle those goals if you feel like your life is in order.

Step Three: Think of Yourself!

De-stress!!! Pamper yourself! Now I know you are saying, "The holidays just pasted, I can't pamper myself??" Well you don't need to spend money doing it. Take a day to relax, enjoy something that you like to do, maybe I day enjoying your favorite hobby. Don't start the New Year off worn down. Take some time, even if it is just a day to yourself, you will be amazed how you feel after!

Last Minute New Years... Your Friends will Never know!

With so many holidays back to back it is nearly impossible to avoid a melt-down from the stress of shopping, cooking and eating. Its impossible to plan another social evening to ring in the new year. Or is it???

We brainstormed some simply ideas to make your New Years Eve something special without the stress that months of prior planning brings.

Since resolutions are right around the corner why not create a "Guilty Pleasures" buffet. Friends will truly enjoy the spread of Chinese take out, White Trash Dip, Pizza, Chips of all shapes and flavors with the really fattening sour cream dips like french onion and garlic garlic. Pigs in a blanket, and cheese fondue also make great quick aps that guests can enjoy. For Dessert you can display hostess cupcakes and Twinkies on fancy cake plates, alongside ho hos, ding dogs and devil dogs, or create a speciality cake out of them - who could resist.

So as not to spend your entire budget for 2010, why not ask your guests to each bring a bottle of champagne since it is the drink of choice for revelers worldwide. You can also buy some inexpensive bubbly to mix up into champagne cocktails such as the popular mimosa which is 5 ounces of sparkling wine with 1 ounce of orange juice. For a little variation use a mandarin orange as the garnish. For another option try the Poinsetta, which starts with the same 5 ounces of sparkling wine, 1/2 ounce of cranberry juice, 1/4 ounce of Triple sec and a twist of lime.

With the drinks and food taken care of you have to have something that will keep New Years Eve from feeling like every other saturday night at home. Balloons and Streamers make quick easy and inexpensive decorations, combined with hats, blowers and noise makers - your guests will certainly feel the tradition that is the holiday. Make sure that you have plenty of music planned for the night - one idea for doing this to create play lists from each decade 60's, 70's 80's etc. Find out where the New year is turning from the start of your party until midnight here in the states, each time a new country rings in the new year switch the music to a new decade.

Make sure you have plenty of TV's and clocks around so Guests can follow New Years all over the world and won't miss the clock striking Midnight.

Lastly, if you want to give out party favors that your guests will use and are not likely to forget, consider morning after packages - cellophane bags filled with a teaspoon of confetti, ibuprofen packets, vitamin c powder, stomach soothing ginger tea bags and a bottle of water tied off with a brightly colored bow.

Wedding Favors - Yay or Neah???

Your wedding day is the one you have dreamed about since you were a little girl, and it is a day that you are not likely to soon forget. With all of the planing, time and money spent, you dream day can also be a nightmare and a stressful time as well.

Although this is your special day your Guests play a really big role in your memories - in the long run they are the ones that will make your day the memory you want it to be. Because they are such a special part of a wedding couples typically give out favors as something to remember the wedding by.

The problem, as I see it, with favors, is that they often can be one of the most costly small items on the wedding budget. If you are like most people, your wedding is already being done on a dime and you want to cut costs as much as you can. Often the Favors are the first to go.

Consider this however, what if you can fit the favor into the cost of the wedding without changing anything? We thing that Couples should consider using favors as part of the decor so that you aren't spending extra money on items that you and your Guests will never use. The result of this practice still gives your Guest something useful to take home as a memory, and helps to make your wedding tables as beautiful as you dreamed they would be.

A great examples are picture frames that hold the escort cards for your guests. This has a two fold benefit, aside from a great useful gift, they also help to keep that card table neat an organized.

Another option is to incorporate a votive candle holder into the tabletop, you can include a great smelling candle, and each Guest will be able to take one home after the reception. Again, this is a two fold option, not only do they get a very unique candle holder for their home, the scented candles will allow you to create a great environment for your reception.

If being creative with you budget isn't necessary there are a whole slew of wedding related items that are cute, from custom labeled bottles of wine and champagne, to salt an pepper shakers with "two peas in a pod".

To answer the question, we say favors are a most definite YAY! but, whatever the favor is - the trend is usefulness, if you, or your Guests can't use it at the wedding reception, make sure that your Guests can use it when they get home.

Brian Medbury Announced as Finalist for 2010 Event Solutions Spotlight Award

Event Solutions, Vice President Caroline Baragona made the announcement today that Brian Medbury, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Perfect Productions had advanced into the finals of the Event Solutions Spotlight Award Process in the category of Rising Star - Male.

The Event Solutions Spotlight Awards are the event industry's premier, most comprehensive awards. They Acknowledge the finalists' and recipients' body of work. The Rising Star Award is presented to one male and one female Event Industry Professional who has been in the industry five years or less. This theme park was constructed as part of a major expansion that transformed the Disneyland area and its hotels into the Disneyland Resort and consists of five areas: Sunshine Plaza, Hollywood Pictures Backlot, The Golden State, A Bug's Land and Paradise Pier. Each area is meant to resemble various aspects pg California, its culture, landmarks and history.

This is a great vacation for families with children of all ages. There is plenty to do & it is also in close proximity to Disneyland which has a Holiday Parade every year from December 25th-January 2nd. Why California Adventures over Disney World in Orlando? Disney World attracts a much larger crowd for the well-known Holiday Parade. This attraction maximizes park capacity which for some, makes an un-enjoyable experience, for example, lines are longer & restaurants shorten menus for holiday rush. At California Adventure, you get a similar experience & less of a mob.

#2. Cruise

A cruise is a wonderful vacation for families, singles, & couples! There are numerous ports & destinations that would please just about everyone. Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks... So I thought about what I am thankful for this holiday season and I want to share it with all of you.

My health-There are so many terminally ill people in the world, that I am thankful that I am healthy.

My family, friends & loved ones- The saying goes, "You can pick your Friends, but you can't pick your Family!" The saying is true, but at the end of the day, they are still your family and will be there for you and love you everyday no matter what.

My successes this year- I am grateful that I have the opportunity to be here at Perfect Productions. My extended family here makes work not seem like work some days. I am also proud of myself for completely my schooling and continuing with a design background when most students do not enjoy their major as much as I enjoy mine.

Traditions - The True Spirit Behind Thanksgiving!

Today I am writing about thanksgiving traditions, and there are many, but perhaps the biggest tradition of all is Thanksgiving itself.

Children are taught the story in school about how the settlers celebrated the first Harvest with their Indian Friends, and it became the First thanksgiving. Although this is true, this is not the holiday as we know it.

President Lincoln declared the last Thursday of November 1863, the first day of giving thanks for the blessings of "fruitful fields and healthful skies". 146 years ago the yearly tradition started but it wasn't until 1941, after President Roosevelt changed the date to the 3rd Thursday in November in order to extend the holiday shopping season, that congress actually ratified the holiday and the Tradition as we know it began.

The United Sates of America being the melting pot that it is - has taken some of its biggest thanksgiving traditions from other countries.

The Cornucopia, for example, is one of the most recognizable symbols of the holiday- but does anyone know where it comes from or what the meaning behind it is??

This Horn of Plenty as it is often times called originated in ancient Greece and was the symbol of abundance. it has evolved over the years into a curved basket, however originally it was a curved goat horn overflowing with fruits and vegetables. The Story says that the horn was the symbol of Zeus's nurse the Nymph Amalthaea - and that it would be filled with whatever the owner wished for.

Another tradition that we see on thanksgiving is the Turkey and trimmings - this is something that has evolved since the first thanksgiving as the settlers did not have turkey, they were giving thanks for gain and seed.

Today, Different regions of the United States prepare it differently, like coffee rubbed Turkey in Hawaii, Salt encrusted Turkey in New England or deep fried Turkey in the south. None the less, the Turkey has become a main stay for thanksgiving tables.

Not only is eating Turkey a tradition, but since 1947 every thanksgiving the National Turkey Federation give the President of the United States Three Turkeys - one of which is pardoned and sent to live out its days in the comfort of a luxury spa, while the other two are dressed and served up for the Whitehouse Thanksgiving dinner.

And what story about Thanksgiving traditions would be complete if I didn't mention the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade and Football.

The Macy's Parade with its lavish floats and larger than life balloons began in 1924 and is enjoyed by 46 million people all over the world, 2.5 million of which were along the Manhattan parade route last year. The first character balloon to make an appearance in the parade was Felix the Cat. Celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keyes, Tim McGraw and the Bare Naked Ladies. Other Characters that have graced the parade route are, Shrek, Mickey Mouse, Snoopy, Hello Kitty, Abby Kadabby and the cast of sesame street as well as, of course the Big Man himself Santa Claus.

The Football tradition dates back to 1876 when the first collegiate football championships were held on thanksgiving day. Recently the NFL has added a Thanksgiving day game and of course the old staple rivalries such as the sunshine showdown of the Florda Gators and the Florida Seminoles.

Not to worry if can't choose the winning team in football you may be able to score the wishbone from the Turkey and if tug and end up with the bigger side you can make a wish that will hopefully come true for you. This tradition dates back to 322 B.C. when the Romans brought it with them when they conquered the British. English settlers brought the game with them to the colonies and the rest is history.

Lastly an most importantly Thanksgiving traditions are all about giving thanks - this year consider a regional southern tradition. Place 5 Kernels of corn on top of a small envelope, by each of your guests plates. When you sit down to dinner tell your Guests the Story of the of the first harvest. Explain how the settlers went through some days with merely five Kernels of Corn. Tell them about the planting and harvesting of the crops and how thanksgiving celebrated that harvest. Then look to your guests and ask them to pick up the first Kernel of corn and put it in the Envelope to remind them of the beauty of autumn. Follow with the second Kernal to remind them of their love for each other, the third to remind them of their family love, the fourth for friendship and when they put the last kernel in the envelope they should give thanks and be reminded of Freedom - the tradition we fought for - and the most important of all. They should keep the envelopes with them throughout the year to remember the lessons of the 5 Kernels.

As you can see Thanksgiving is steep with Traditions - and I am sure each family and person has even more that they do to add to this list. So During this Holiday Season Perfect Productions would like to know...

Fall Centerpiece Ideas

Are you having your family over for Thanksgiving? Do you want to jazz up your dining room table a little bit without purchasing all new decor? Well I thought I could help with some neat, inexpensive decor ideas.

Natural Table Runner

For a pumpkin patch table runner look, arrange a line of miniature pumpkins or gourds in the center of the table and weave double-faced ribbon around them. Add some bittersweet stem for a blaze of color and you have a very simple & easy design.

If you do not have a long table for the runner look, arrange the pumpkins & gourdes at different heights on pillars, plates & stands. Weave the ribbon around them & add the bittersweet for a similar look.

Pumpkin Candle Holders

To create these festive votive & candle holders place the bottom end of the pillar candle on the top of the pumpkin, tightly trace the perimeter of the candle's bottom with a marker. Cut a hole inside each pumpkin with a utility knife, and then carve out space for candles with a melon baller. If desired, stack 2 pumpkins/gourds on top of one another and secure from inside hole with straight pins. Wedge the candle securely inside. If necessary, keep the candle from tipping by wedging one end of a vine in between the candle and the cut edge. Tuck in a few leaves and sprigs of vine around the base of the candle to add some color. This is wonderful for a table arrangement as well as decorations around your home and it is really easy!

Corn & Candles

For a fall ambiance at your next thanksgiving feast, pick out some autumn scented candles & some glass votive holders. Make sure that when you put the candle in the holder that there is some room around the candle. Fill the space around the add some dried corn or acorns. Lite & enjoy!

Fruitfully Candles

Warm up your holiday table with a this fruitful centerpiece complete with dried oranges, lemons, and limes. Thinly slice the citrus fruits about 1/8-inch thick. Place a wire cooling rack on a cookie sheet, and then arrange the sliced oranges, lemons, and limes on the rack. Put the cookie sheet and rack in an oven preheated to 250 degrees for approximately two hours, or until all moisture is removed. Using a glue gun, connect the citrus slices to each other, forming a band around the base of each candle. Do not glue them to the candle. Once your candles are decorated, cluster them in the center of your Thanksgiving table and weave berried branches throughout to create a cohesive centerpiece.

Trying to Choose a Wedding Date?

It isn't easy trying to pick a date for one of the most important days of your life, the day that you declare your love to that special person in front of your friends & family, the day that every little girl dreams of, yes...your wedding day!! I thought I would give you a few little tips for each month to help you decide which month you want to walk down the aisle. Let's start by breaking down the year...

January, February, March, & April...

These months are some of the least popular months to get married in because of the weather. In the majority of the country snow is a huge possibility during January & February all the way into March some years. When late March to April comes around, we'll you all know the saying...This would be the least expensive time of year to tie the knot. Vendors necessarily do not have their calenders full, so this would be the time of the year to do some major negotiating. On the other hand, it could make a beautiful setting with snow covered grounds, and as you get into March & April those flowers that only bloom in the spring, such as tulips, daffodils, lilies, etc. are all starting to sprout which might save some money.

May & June

May & June are two of the most popular months to get married. Spring & Summer are here! There is color, and life outside again of course anyone would want to get married in these picture perfect scenarios. This is also a season for graduations, BBQ, holidays, & even vacations. These events come into play when you are inviting guests as well as venue selection. With choosing one of the most popular times of the year, planning a year to a year in a half prior to the date is always strongly suggested. The price for everything also rises because of the demand during these two months. Also, June is a special month to become newlyweds because June is named after Juno, the Roman Goddess of marriage. It won't hurt to the have stars on your side.

July & August

This time of year is not the most "popular", but can make a beautiful setting for your dream day. You have the warm summer weather, which depending on where you are located can work to your favor or disadvantage. Outdoor & beach ceremonies would be wonderful at this time of year, with the appropriate planning. Make sure you have a gazebo, or something for guests to stay out of the sun, also because of the heat, to would be a good idea to sick with light fabrics for your wedding party & for the brides dress. The down fall about this time of the year is also the weather. It is quite a gamble with heat waves during the months of July & August, please take precaution when having an outdoor ceremony with elderly & young guests.

September & October

September brides can enjoy all the benefits of those marrying in the height of the summer. Autumn weddings are memorable. This time of year brings to mind golden & copper themes through the fabrics & the flowers. Flowers are earthy & rich. Sunsets at this time of year are incredible, so try and use this to your advantage in photographs. Honeymoons are easier because everyone is back to school and not thinking about vacations, yet some destinations could be more expensive because you are in their peak season.

November & December

We are back to the expensive, non "popular" months, with snow & the holidays the last thing on everyone mind is marriage. Everyone is planning their holiday parties, thanksgiving dinners, & shopping. This is definitely a factor when it comes to planning, save the dates would be wise suggestion. November is great because you can still pull off the autumn theme that you might like in September & October, but save some money with it being the wedding "out season". December is magical with the Holiday lights, possibly snow fall, & the new year is right around the corner!!

Well, there is definitely fruit for thought. My suggestion is right down what you want for your big day. What flowers, outdoor or indoor, colors, possibly even budget? Then look through the start eliminating the months. Good Luck!

4 Ways For Meeting Planners to Prepare for Flu Season

As the meetings industry prepares for the H1N1 flu virus, are you ready for handling events during flu season? Check out these 4 tips for how to be prepared:

1. Stock up on hand sanitizers.

Hand sanitizers are a decent safeguard to spreading diseases from hand to mouth. Though they don't replace hand washing, they are especially helpful at meetings and events where your guests cannot always run to the bathroom for soap and water. Just make sure to purchase sanitziers that contain an alcohol (ehtyl alcohol, ethanol, etc.) in a concentration of at least 60 percent. Studies have shown that anything less than this is not effective.

2. Educate your guests.

Provide your attendees with helpful information on how they can keep themselves and others healthy. Washing hands frequently, avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth, and coughing into a sleeve or elbow—not hands—are among the best tips to stay healthy. Share these with your attendees on your event website or in your email marketing.

3. Stay informed.

Just as your guests should be in the loop, event planners should make sure to regularly visit reliable websites such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to keep current on the flu vaccine, influenza activity in the United States and more.

Additionally, it also helps to be familiar with the symptoms of the flu, which include fever, sore throat, headache, body and muscle aches, dry cough, runny or stuffy nose and fatigue. Note that for adults, symptoms such as difficulty breahting or shortness of breath, sudden dizziness and severe vomiting warrant urgent medical attention. Establish a plan of action should an event guest, or one of your staff members, fall sick. Designate a contact person to whom guests can turn for medical assistance.

4. Have a back-up plan.

Last year, many event planners were caught unawares by the pandemonium brought on by the flu. Make sure to establish procedures for attendee cancellations, speaker cancellations, etc. Have a policy in place when it comes to refunding event fees for your attendees. This also holds true for your event venue and suppliers—go over how payments/refunds will be handled should you need to cancel or change locations at the last minute.

When someone asks me what the purpose of hiring an Event Planner is I don't talk about the money saving tips, or the time I can save a bride on her big day...

To me the most important role of the Event Planner is to figure out the little things that will make the big impression.

From time to time I love to talk about the those things that are often overlooked, but that can also be the little detail which makes our Events, well, PERFECT.

The Escort Card table at a wedding is certain one of those things - that can be easily overlooked.

Recently as I was researching new escort card ideas for an upcoming wedding I came across some of the most unique, beautiful and exquisitely displayed form of seating people that I have ever seen. I felt the need to share them, and have tried to include links for ordering info where I can.

Hand Painted Sand Dollars:

Perfect for a destination wedding or a tropical theme - these hand painted sand dollars can be displayed in a box of sand or hung from a tree and will make for a wonderful keepsake after the event.

Polished Escort Stones:

Along the same lines these polished stones are great for an outdoor, natural wedding and can be easily created with a bag of polished rock and a metallic pen.

Traditional Escort Cards:

the traditional cards are still some couple's style - however display them on a bed of stem died carnations and they take on a completely different display. Traditional cards don't have to be white with black lettering either - there are plenty of designs out there so there is no reason for the ordinary not to be extraordinary.

Gift Bags:

Think about the weddings that you have been to, There is never enough room on the dinner table a far as I am concerned. With 8-10 people seated in the maximum of a 6 foot space - with charger plates and multiple forks, wine glasses and the extras of a formal place setting, there is not room for favors on the table too. So Couple's Typically resort to an escort card table at the beginning of the evening with a favor table at the end of the night.

I think the best idea walking is to combine the two - gift your Guests a gift box or bag with their escort card attached to it. They are beautiful and it allows you to customize the favor is you want to.

Lollipops:

Weddings aren't the only time that escort cards are needed or used - Mitzvahs, and other social events often have a call for the escort card. We recently did a "Candy Land" theme for which we used lollipops standing in gumdrops and jelly beans as the escort cards. Not only were the children and Guests able to find their tables, but they also got a nice take home treat. We made out lollipops ourselves, but I can't take credit for the idea, I found it here.

How to Make Your Day-cation an event all its own!!

With the every changing economy- and the uncertanity of what tomorrow may bring - more people are staying close to home for vacation and trying to may the ordinary into something extraordinary, all while spending as little money as possible.

Day trips are in abundance no matter where you live - you can always head to the beach or a park on a sunny day - but how do you make that short drive to the place your whole family and all your friends have been before an event to remember?

Its all about the details...

Here in Connecticut, my favorite day trip is the beach. The following thoughts are based

on making an unforgettable experience out of a basic trip to the shore - but you can adapt the ideas to any place you may want to go.

Adapt a theme for the day, since we are headed to the beach, nautical seems to be the natural way to go. I chose the colors of blue, yellow and white for this purpose.

The old adage says "the more the merrier" and I believe in that - I think that day trips to locales such as the beach where you don't have to move or keep track of people are the perfect time to invite everyone you want to catch up with. Pick your date carefully and be sure to plan on weather - set a rain date because no one wants to be outside, especially at the beach, in the rain. I invited about 20 guests to my beach day.

If you are anything like me, a definate planner, I would give yourself about a month to do the planning - this way you can inform your friends and family to save the date. This works really well for some people - but you certinaly shouldn't count the whole experience out if you only have a week to plan it. Sometimes spontaneous events are the most fun.

Now that you have your Guest list and your date - you are ready to start the planning for invitations I suggest cutting out shapes that match you theme and customizing them for your guests. My friend Kristen loves lighthouses, so I am using my cricut expression (this is a scrap bookers dream - it cuts out every shape imaginable in any size), to cut her invitation in the shape of a light house, my cousin loves fish so that is what her's will be. If you don't have away to cut shapes out and you aren't comfortable with your artistic side - the local craft stores typically carry die cut shapes in ev ery color that you can use.

Be sure to include all the information you think your guests will need in order to make it to the big event. Date, Time, and place are the essentials. My beach event is going to be a pot luck - so I am going to include a request for some sort of food item on the invitation. If you are going to request your guests bring things I would try to lay out what you would like to see for food a head of time and make suggestions.

Our beach m enu is also going to carry out the theme. I have also found that a day at the beach calls for more snack and quick grab items than it does a sit down menu, so I am asking guest to bring Seaworthy snacks, Admiral's appetizers, Seaman's sandwiches, salads and sides. No matter what you decide to serve, by directing guests to a category of food, you can ensure that you have enough variety. Remember a day at the beach doesn't really allow for much cooking - if you are planning on using hibachi's or tailgating grills to cook or warm items you should check with the town to ensure that it is allowed on the beach.

As for my food contribution, I am making what we are going to call "Harbor Hummus", an inexpensive, high prot ein snack that is easy to make, and the "Captian's Daughter's Keylime Stuffed Strawberries" for dessert.

Harbor Hummus Recipe

2 Can of Canellini beans

3 Cloves of Garlic

1/4 cup Fresh Lemon Juice

3 Tbs Olice Oil

1 1/2 Tsp Salt

1 Tsp Ground Cumin

Combine all ingredients in a food processor until smooth, Chill and serve with pita crisps, and vegetables

Captian's Daughter's Keylime Stuffed Strawberries

2 pints of Strawberries

Philadelphia Key Lime Cheesecake Filling

Use a pealer to remove the stem and core of each strawberry - creating a hole inside

cut the pointy end off the strawberry and stand it on the tray -

save the ends to use as a garnish after they are stuffed

Use a pastry bag and pipe in the filling until the hole is full with a dallop on top

use the end of the strawberry to garnish

Now that the invitations are out and you have your menu fairly set - its time to put the finishing touches on the table.

The Beach that I am going to has a pavilion with Picnic tables - and I am planning on arriving early enough in the day to grab a few and call the space my own. Another option is to bring a small card table which you can get at a local discount store.

Again, I am going to use the Cricut expression to cut out nautical shapes which I can attach to popsicle sticks and use as identifiers in the food items to tell guests what they are eating. Since I don't know what people are bringing - I will have to hold off on writing the names of the food on them until I arrive at the beach.

Of course, as always, not using paper products gives everything a more upscale feel. The local dollar store as well as discount stores like Wal-mart and Target are always a wealth of products as far as party supplies.

I bought melamine dishes and glasses in my color scheme for people to eat and drink out of

I wanted guests to feel more important than a regular paper plate - but I didn't want to break the bank with china.

Instead of a table cloth - I opted for some fabric that matched the nautical theme and finished off the table with small glass bottles and Containers wrapped in rope that I bought at the local hardware store. These containers held the plastic silverware and napkins as well as the flowers. I also used 2 gathering jars filled with beach sand, a pillar candle and some sea shells as the main items on the table. I planned my beach outing so it carried over until after dusk - so the candles will keep the bugs away.

Since by guests were going to be at the beach for a long period of time I put together a large beach basket that was filled with items people may have forgotten and might need such as extra Towels, Bug spray, Wet Wipes

, a small First Aid Kit, SunScreen, Magazines, Balls and a Frisbee.

Big and Little Kids alike often get bored so make sure that you bring

enough activities so your guests have something to do.

My guests were loving the idea of the sandcastle contest so I am bringing extra items
that can be used to decorate, as well as a few specially purchased prizes to give out!

The most important thing about your day trip is to make it fun -
Memories always come from the fun times

Experience Riddell's Bay Golf Course - Bermuda!

Riddell's Bay Golf and Country Club holds the title as the oldest golf course in Bermuda, built in 1922 at the southern end of the island in the Parish of Warwick. The course is flatter than the newer courses built further up the hills to expand views of the water, It has up-close-and-personal views. At just under 6,000 yards it's a short course, even for Bermuda, with a slope rating of 121, and most play along a peninsula that's only 600 yards wide at its broadest point. Everywhere you look there are glimpses of gorgeous turquoise water nearly everywhere you look.

Adding to the experience of Perfect Production's exclusive Golf trip, in November 2009, Guests will be afforded the opportunity to play Riddell's Bay an exclusive and private golf club, requiring an introduction from a member in order to play.

Riddell's Bay was designed by Devereux Emmet (1862-1934) the son of a judge and a descendant of Thomas Addison Emmet, a founder of Tammany Hall. Emmet was a golfer and huntsman. Throughout his life, He devoted time to measuring British golf holes for his friend C.B. Macdonald, who was then planning The National Golf Links of America. Emmet was a founding member of The National. Emmet was also a talented golfer, making the quarterfinals of the 1904 British Amateur and winning the Bahamas Amateur at the age of 66.

Emmet designed his first course, the Island Golf Links (a forerunner to Garden City GC), upon his return from an extended trip to the great links of Scotland. His other early design work, including one for his own family's estate at Sherewogue and Cherry Valley (built on property belonging to his father-in-law), was done at no charge. Emmet also designed the renowned Congressional Country Club in Washington, DC. He Later he became a professional golf course architect and accepted fees for his work.

Riddell's bay is an 18 hole golf course, which was recently revamped and renovated by architect Ed Biedel - who maintained the integrity of the course though the 1.8 million dollar renovation.

Summer Wedding Ideas

Although we live in one of the hottest states in the country, there are many brides who choose to get married in Florida during the Summer months. Many couples even flock to the warmer/more tropical states to host their destination weddings. Whether it is in hopes that more of their guests will be able to attend or that they want to make a family vacation out if it- one thing is for sure....the summer months can be sweltering. There is good news for these Summer couples though....there are many things that you can do to have your guests embracing the heat, instead of dreading it. Here are some great summer wedding ideas:

Bring on the bright colors and patterns.

Your wedding colors should reflect the time of year that your wedding will take place. You won't see too many bright, colorful weddings in the month of December, however they are quite perfect for Summertime weddings. Dark colors tend to attract the sun- which is not something that you and your guests would welcome at such a special day. Khaki linen suites for the Grooms and Groomsmen are perfect! Keep your guests hydrated

It is not completely necessary to provide your guests with drinks prior to the ceremony- unless it is outside during one of the hot Summer months. Staying hydrated is so important for the health and safety of you and your guests. It is so simple and easy to pass out bottled waters (you can even add your own personalized label to them) as your guests enter the ceremony. You can also set up a table with these adorable old fashion pitchers. Serve any beverage such as tea, lemonade, punch or water. Your guests will be more than gracious!

Block those harmful UV Rays

Along with keeping your guests hydrated throughout your outdoor Summer ceremony, you may want to think about protecting their skin from sunburn or irritation. Not only will it go better with the overall feel of a summer wedding, it will keep you from looking like a sweaty mess. The last thing that you would want to happen is to pass out at the alter from heat exhaustion (I have heard of this happening). Another aspect of your dress to consider is the weight and layers- both will increase your body temperature. Try to find something light, airy and cool. Perfect Productions is proud to announce their participation in The Latina and Power Symposium on May 8th 2009. The Symposium will feature actress/choreographer Rosie Perez as the keynote speaker.

Rosie Perez who is an academy award nominated actress and Emmy nominated choreographer continues to shine in her varied roles in front of the camera and behind. Perez made her directorial debut with her documentary on New York City's annual Puerto Rican Day Parade this year, chronicling the ethnic pride the parade has provided American Puerto Ricans and exploring the political and cultural history between the United States and Puerto Rico. Yo Soy Boriqua, Pa' Que Tu Lo Sepas! was filmed on location in New York. The film aired exclusively on IFC in 2006 and was produced by Moxie Firecracker Films in association with TenInACar productions. Perez, who also serves as executive producer on the project, heads TenInACar Productions.

Perez began her career as a choreographer for such artists as Bobby Brown, LL Cool J and Diana Ross. She also chrographed and directed the "Fly Girls" on Fox Television's In living Color, for which she recieved an Emmy nomination.

In films, Perez has starred in comedic and dramatic roles with both ease and acclaim. She starred opposite Tim Robbins and Patricia Arquette in Human Nature. She also starred in Penny Marshall's Riding in Cars with Boys with Drew Berrymore, starred in a produced The 24-Hour Woman and lent her voice to Dreamworks' animated film, The Road to El Dorado with Kenneth Branagh and Kevin Kline. Her previous film credits include Spike Lee's Do the Right thing, Night on Earth, White Men Can't Jump, Untamed Heart, It Could Happen to You, A Brother's Kiss, King of the Jungle and Somebody to Love. In addition, she starred in Fearless opposite Jeff Bridges recieving Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations.

As a producer, Perez's credits include 24 Hour Woman for The Shooting Gallery and HBO's Rosie Perez Presents Societys Ride which ran as three parts and Subway Stories, an anthology of short films that she created. Most recently, Perez entered into a unique deal with Art Television Group(ATG) to develop, star and executive produce a comedy series.

Throughout her career, Perez has been a vocal activist for a number of causes, especially those related to AIDS and inner city youth. In 1999, Perez also received a special commendation from the New York City Comptroller for her advocacy and activism on behalf of the poeple with HIV and AIDS. Pere served as the National Spokesperson for Comite Noviembre Puerto Rican Heritage and was honored in New York during Puerto Rican and Hispanic Heritage Month.

The Answer to that is a simple one - Perfect Productions has been hiring caterers for years, we pride ourselves in knowing fine food and good service and we insist upon it in for our clients - because really noting short of Perfect will do. The site will be accessible for those who want the assistance of an event planner to answer questions such as how to address invitations when the wedding is being put on by divorced parents of the bride, or what the proper etiquette is for receiving line, but don't want to pay to have a coordinator on site. It is perfect of the bride or hostess that wants to do it herself, but isn't quite sure exactly how.

The site which is currently up and running at www.perfectoncall.ning.com will have a fee of $99.00 for 3 months of access. Perfect Productions does have packages are available for brides and hostesses needing a longer planning period.

Brides/hostesses will be able to sign into the site and ask a question or start a discussion. Having Just returned from the Event Solutions and Catersource Conference in Las Vegas Nevada - and having attended several educational session about social networking and marketing - I was completely taken by the idea that I needed to start a BLOG.

Jumping on the Blogging Band Wagon...But Why Now?

First thing first - We have tried to manage blogs before - but to no avail - the discipline necessary post on a blog everyday or once a week just wasn't there. After attending the sessions and After reading quite a bit of information about the industry over the last few weeks. I think it is important not only to give our potential clients a place to see how we operate and what our standards are, but also to unarm the myths about corporate events - the easiest way to accomplish this is to write about it giving a Producers View on everything that is Events.

With that being said welcome to the NEW blog of Perfect Productions!

So On to the Topic At hand...What Happens is Vegas... Should NOT stay in Vegas.

On Friday, Brian and I returned home from what I consider to be a very productive week in Las Vegas at the Catersource/Event Solutions Conference. While some might feel spending a week in Las Vegas was a decadent move in this industry's turbulent economy - I believe exactly the opposite.

When in war, the adage only the strong will prevail exists and in these times the same is true. To be Strong you have to be educated and to be educated you MUST participate in Education, unfortunately for the most part this is something you have to pay for.

At almost a $1000 a person - those pinching pennies would call it an unnecessary or luxury expense. However, with deferred payment plans and lower hotel room rates available, Event Solutions/ Catersource made it very easy to make the decision to participate in the conference this year. And I must say that After Spending 5 days in Sin City, I could not have been happier with the results.

From recipes and business how to, to design and decor the conference was filled with the newest trends for Event Production. Everyone that was in attendance, was not working for their own goals, but to help each other to make the entire industry stronger.

Conversations were everywhere - you couldn't take the elevator from your room to the lobby without someone speaking up, asking a question or just sharing a tidbit of knowledge.

Although you can't use everything - as some information only works regionally - the theme of the week was to take what you learned an adapt it to your environment.

Brian and I learned new ways of cooking, easy ways to transport, principals in producing GREEN events and we met new vendors with amazing products we can use to create a wow factor. The show was exhilarating, demanding and full of techniques to help market, sell and produce or promote in this volatile time. Proving without a doubt that WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS SHOULD NOT STAY IN VEGAS!

Perfect Productions Works with Embraer Aircraft Holding to Produce Ribbon Cutting at Bradley International Airport

Perfect Productions assists Embraer Aircraft Holdings, Inc with the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the New Executive Jets Service Center located at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks.

This center is the second of three that the company will have up and running this fall. The new facilities are 47,700 square feet and are dedicated to provide full service support to the companies Phenom 100, Phenom 300, Legacy 450, Legacy 500 and Legacy 600 Executive Jets.
